Welcome Letter – Chair of the Conference Committee

Dear EELA members, dear friends,

I am delighted to invite you to Bucharest, Romania, for the EELA 2023 Annual Conference, which will be taking place from the 8th to the 10th of June. On this occasion, we will also celebrate EELA’s 25th anniversary.

Romania, a unique country in South-Eastern Europe, which many of you probably have not visited yet, is a combination of scenic landscapes. Mountains, hills, plains, gorges, the Black Sea and the Danube Delta will be yours to discover, which I recommend you do at the earliest opportunity.

Bucharest, Romania’s capital, where the conference will take place, is the country’s largest city and its cultural, commercial and financial centre. Still animated by the bohemian lifestyle of the early twentieth century, Bucharest is a city of contrasts, whose urban space is characterized by a variety of buildings which make it a veritable architectural paradise.

Between the two World Wars, the city was known as the Little Paris, and many of its buildings were designed in the French style. The Arc de Triomphe and many other Neoclassical and Art Nouveau structures are waiting for you to visit! The modern buildings, alongside the historical ones, will take you on a journey through different eras.

A stroll through the narrow streets of the Old Town, coffee served in cafes with the charm of the interwar period and the delicious traditional food are not to be missed!

All you need is energy and enthusiasm! Feel free and inspired by what this wonderful city has to offer!

The conference programme includes exciting legal and non-legal sessions, and you will have the chance to hear from leading experts, HR professionals and practitioners in the field. Multigenerational workforce, mental health, neurodiversity and non-visible disabilities, whistleblowing, artificial intelligence and virtual workspace, business development and social media… These are just a few of the topics included in the program. There will also be sessions highlighting the latest updates on CJEU practice.

Let’s get the debates going!

We have also invited employment lawyers from Ukraine, our war-torn neighbours, and warmly welcomed them to Romania during these turbulent times.

We are trying our best to organise a memorable conference and that is why we have paid particular attention to the venues of the events.

The conference will take place at the Radisson Blu Hotel and the InterContinental Athénée Palace Bucharest, on Victory Avenue, one of the oldest and most charming streets of Bucharest, very close to the Old Town.

We will organize a Stylish Rooftop Welcome Cocktail in the very heart of Bucharest, at ARIA TNB, on the terrace of the National Theatre, which offers a fantastic, panoramic view of the city.

The Classical Gala Dinner will take place in the Palace of the Parliament, which is famous worldwide and the second largest administrative building in the World after the US Pentagon. Hopefully, you won’t get lost inside!

I am excited to let you know that we will organize an extra party – Urban Coolish Party by the Lake – in a perfect place to enjoy the last night of our conference, with a panoramic view on the Herastrau Lake, for those who would like to stay in Bucharest on Saturday night (10/11 June).

Additional fun is a must for EELA’s 25th anniversary, so I invite you to stay one extra day in Bucharest!

If you are not already an EELA member, now is the best time to join us. EELA brings constant benefits to your professional development, great networking opportunities and, most importantly, lifelong friendships.

I am deeply grateful to all fellow EELA Board members for their hard work, great commitment, friendship and support in organizing this conference! It is the team effort that makes such an event come to life.

We are all excited to welcome you to Bucharest and invite you to discover the charm of this city.

Energy, Enthusiasm, Liberty, Attraction!

Come enjoy and be welcome in the vibrant city of Bucharest!

Let’s celebrate the 25th EELA anniversary!

With warm regards,

Corina Radu
